# Obsidian Pay — Secure Payment

## How it works for customers

- One Obsidian account carries one saved-card wallet; the same wallet serves
  every Willow Rain property.
- At checkout, Obsidian Pay is the first lane when a saved card exists: the
  sheet shows the merchant, the item, and the exact total, and the button
  carries the amount ("Pay $19.99 with Obsidian Pay"). One tap; 3-D Secure
  completes inside the same flow when a bank asks.
- A charge counts as PAID only after the server re-reads it and the amount,
  currency, and order reference match. A decline stays in the sheet as a
  plain message; nothing is captured.
- Guests without a saved card use a hosted card checkout as the fallback
  lane. No external wallet is presented on Obsidian's own properties.

## How it works for merchants and properties

- Any property or outside merchant opens the Obsidian Pay sheet with a
  **signed pay-request** (merchant id, order reference, exact amount,
  currency, item, return URL, short expiry, nonce — HMAC-signed). The sheet
  verifies the signature before it shows an amount; a tampered or expired
  request is refused with no Pay button.
- On success the sheet returns a **signed result** the merchant verifies
  server-side before granting anything. No verified result means unpaid,
  by construction.
- A drop-in embed (one script tag) puts the sheet on a merchant's own page
  as a popup, overlay, or redirect.
